    New Truck

Ya'all knew it was coming... can't go too long without getting a new vehicle. It would go against all that I've become acustom to being married to Jason!
It's a great truck... a real big truck. Oh yeah!
When sitting behind the wheel, one feels on top of the world!
It has power seats with lumbar control and a CD player, lots of storage spaces and a bench seat. It's a pewter color with gray interior. It has a silver pin stripe as well as molding alongside, and mirror like bug shield. It also has a nice bedliner and cargo rails. Plus more but I don't need to bore ya with all the details.
The only complaint I have is the height of it when getting in... LOL!... may need some running boards eventually.
It will fill the great need of owning a truck... for the next couple years anyway.
Check out the pics in the "Truck" Photo Album ------------------------->

    I'm back!

I took my road trip to Ankeny this morning to get the doors. It's a good thing too. These doors are better quality for less money than the ones at Lowe's. I also picked up the door knobs while I was there. I still paid less than if I had bought just the doors at Lowe's. I'm so happy!
On the way back I stopped in Ames and Jason and I went to Hickory Park for lunch. Always love to go there!
The doors photo has been added to the "Remodel" photo album.
We also looked at a truck for sale. Not a bad one for the money. It would be handy to have a truck during this remodeling project, so I gave Jason my blessing to buy it if he so desires. The decision is completely up to him... just means I get my CR-V (instead of a truck that he wants me to get) when I am ready. Well, maybe... LOL!

    Doors

Doors! This room needs new doors. We were going to buy some at Lowe's but in this week's Menard's ad was advertised the same type of door for $27. per door cheaper. For two doors that is $54. less so it is worth the drive all the way to Menard's. So that is my plans for today.
I also need to pick out trim for the top of the room where the wall meets the ceiling. Trim there always gives a room a more finished look. This trim I will paint so it blends more naturally with the wall. The rest of the trim in the room will be stained. I can't wait!
John and I went to Redeker's to look at carpet over the weekend. John didn't like any that I picked out and I didn't like what he picked out so, looks like Mom will just buy carpet when he isn't around... LOL!
I have quite a day off ahead of me so I should get going.
    Later all!

    It looks like... a room!

More updated photos added to the "remodel" Photo album.

In these photos is the new wall for the closet going up.
People featured are Jason, Alexis, and Roger.

More taping and mudding went on all weekend. Several coats... mud, wait to dry, sand... then do it all again!

A trip to the store with a measuring tape revealed that the new doors are taller than the current doorways so we had to readjust the main doorway to make it taller. Not a big problem though. Piece of cake... can of corn... whatever.

This is all for now, enjoy the pics!

    Happy Birthday

I'm old. I just seem to be getting older everyday...LOL!
I planned nothing special to do other than to sleep in and I couldn't do that.
I'm too used to getting up at 5am for work! I did sleep in a little. I woke up at 6:30am and have been up ever since.
For my birthday, Jason got me two new pairs of New Balance shoes. I needed a new pair for work and they were on sale so I got two pairs. I love them, they are so good for my feet since I'm on them 8.5 hours a day. I also got some items for my hair since I'd like to try to hol dit up in a way other than a ponytail all the time. I got two clips and two sets of hair sticks. I have no idea how to use them... so I'll let you know how it goes.
John made me a card to surprise me this morning. Elainie and Alexis gave me hugs and good wishes.
My sister called me this morning to wish me a happy day.
I also got a card and gift from Roger and Carol, and a card from Grandma & Pa Frieling. Plus I received a box of assorted chocolates and jelly beans from Temptations in the mail. They are really good. These came from Linda Doyle, CEO of Northcrest. Awesome!
The kids and I spent lunch at McD's with Jason and then went shopping around a bit. Didn't buy much of anything, but we had a fun time together.

Speaking of getting old, we have a poster on the activity director's door that talks about getting old and I thought it was really neat so I'm going to share it with you:

    OLD IS BEAUTIFUL
    What is old?
    Are love and caring old?
    Are truth and beauty old?
    Are faith and prayer old?
    Are hope and wisdom old?
    If all these are old,
then call me old for old is beautiful!

    Enjoy your day!

    Remodel Photo Update

Just a quick note to let you know there are two new photos in the "Remodel" photo album. Wiring is live now in the closet and drywall is up on most the ceiling. It sure makes the room brighter than the brown paper backing of the insulation!

    Enjoy!

    IMPORTANT FUND RAISERS for DIABTES!!!

United Community Sixers are going door to door selling FEET for the Juvenile Diabetes Association. These cost only ONE DOLLAR. Please buy one or more if they come knocking on your door. I bought one from Sunny Hutzell, our neighbor girl and one from her friend and marked them both as In Memory of Olivia Bennett, who I might add, did student teaching at United K - 5 building in 2003 or 2004. Thank you United Community for having a great fundraiser!

Another fundraiser is being planned for APRIL 8, 2006. This one will be at the Community Building at the Boone County Fairgrounds. There will be an auction and entertainment.
75% of monies raised will go to the American Diabetes Association.
25% will go towards Olivia's funeral expenses.
I will add more information at a later time but please,
RESERVE the DATE on your calendar and BE THERE!

    Happy March

Welcome March! The green month! The month of St. Patty's Day, the Ides of March, the first day of Spring and My birthday!

To welcome in March, I made special jello after school treats for the kids. Don't know how well they will like the green jello, but they can at least try it. LOL!

    Happy March to you all!
